Take Action - Be Part Of History
This is the first national research project by and for Black women, girls, and trans survivors of gender-based violence in Canada.
Do you identify as a Black survivor of gender-based violence? Or maybe, you are a Black advocate who works in the gender-based violence sector? We can use our voices and lived experiences as tools for social change. You can share your experiences by taking our confidential online survey.
This survey was designed for and by Black survivors and advocates. We centre our experiences to better understand what we need to heal from trauma of anti-black racism AND gender-based violence. What are the barriers we encounter when seeking support from the gender-based violence sector as well as key medical, legal and social service systems? How does anti-Black racism shape these institutional responses? In both a historical and contemporary context? And how do we – as survivors and as advocates - resist anti-Black racism in our pursuit of justice, freedom and equality?
We will use our voices to advocate for changes in public policy to better meet the needs of Black survivors of gender-based violence. The lack of disaggregated data has rendered our lived experiences invisible. Take the survey and help advance equity for Black women, girls, gender-diverse and trans people in Canada.
